Two major pulp and paper companies in Indonesia - Asia Pacific Resources International (APRIL Group) and Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) - have received sustainable forest management certification from Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), the world’s leading forest certification system.

The certification ensures international consumers that the wood-related products they buy are sourced from plantations that have been independently verified as sustainably managed in accordance to PEFC’s sustainability benchmarks.

“After much diligent work on the ground, we are delighted to be the first Indonesia forestry company to be awarded our PEFC certification. It reflects that we have made strong progress in sustainable management of our plantations,” Tony Wenas, managing director of APRIL Group's Indonesian operations, said.

“PEFC adds extra trust and assurance for our customers around the world that we are delivering sustainably produced forestry products. It is a positive step for the reputation of Indonesian forestry globally and the demands of new markets and new customers for APRIL Group,” Wenas said.

APRIL Group now has 45 per cent of its long-term wood supply PEFC-certified. The company's manufacturing operations are already PEFC chain-of-custody certified.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Perusahaan kertas dan bubur kertas Asia Pacific Resource International Limited (APRIL) serta Asia Pulp & Paper Group (APP) mendapat sertifikat Pengelolaan Hutan Lestari PEFC/IFCC. Penyerahan skema pengesahan sertifikasi hutan ini baru pertama kali di Indonesia.

SertifikatProgramme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification(PEFC) atauIndonesian Forestry Certification Cooperation(IFCC) akan diberikan kepada lima perusahaan dari Grup APRIL dan dua dari APP. Terdapat hutan sekitar 306 ribu hektar dari APP, lalu 304 ribu hektar dari APP.

Maka lebih dari 600 ribu hektar area hutan tanaman industri Indonesia mendapat sertifikasi. "Dengan terbitnya sertifikat pengelolaan hutan lestar IFCC ini, pengelolaan hutan lestari di Indonesia khususnya, dapat tercapai dan permintaan pasar internasional atas produk hasil hutan yang mensyaratkan pengelolaan hutan lestari juga dapat terpenuhi sehingga hasil hutan meningkat dan lapangan kerja makin terbuka," jelas Ketua IFCC Drajad H Wibowo, kepada wartawan, di Jakarta, Senin, (8/6).

JAKARTA, GORIAU.COM- APRIL Group berhasil meraih sertifikat PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification/pengelolaan hutan berkelanjutan). Sertifikat tersebut diserahkan CEO dan Sekretaris Jenderal PEFC Ben Gunneberg kepada Managing Director APRIL Indonesia Tony Wenas, di Bali Room, Hotel Indonesia Kempinski, Jakarta, Senin (8/6/2015).

Dalam sambutannya, Ben Gunneberg memuji APRIL yang telah melakukan pengelolaan hutan berkelanjutan dan bertanggung jawab, sehingga menjadi perusahaan pertama di Indonesia menerima sertifikat PEFC. Ben berharap komitmen APRIL menjadi contoh bagi perusahaan lainnya di Indonesia dan negara-negara di Asia Tenggara.

Jakarta.Two major pulp and paper companies in Indonesia — Asia Pacific Resources International, or APRIL, and Asia Pulp & Paper, or APP — have received sustainable forest management certification from the world’s leading forest certification system. This achievement helps both companies to tap into new markets and better convince customers of the sustainability of their operations.

The two companies received the nod from the Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), which accounts for two thirds of the total forests that are certified under globally certified schemes. The certification ensures international consumers that the wood-related products they buy are sourced from plantations that have been independently verified as sustainably managed in accordance to PEFC’s sustainability benchmarks.

“Most of the forest certification to date has occurred in Europe and North America. The addition of Indonesia to the 36 national forest certification systems means that more and more area in Asia can be certified from now on,” Ben Gunneberg, the CEO and secretary general of the Geneva-based PEFC, said in a statement on Monday.
