Perjuangkan Kelestarian Hutan, Perempuan Miliki Peranan Penting

Merdeka.com - Kaum perempuan diharapkan meningkatkan peranannya dalam mendorong upaya pelestarian hutan. Saat ini peran perempuan di kehutanan masih menghadapi kendala karena kehutanan dianggap sebagai dunia laki-laki yang memiliki kekuatan fisik.

"Selain itu pengakuan atas atas kontribusi nyata perempuan dalam aspek ekonomi dan ekologi masih kurang. Karena itu, paradigma di masyarakat masih mengarah pada pemberdayaan perempuan," kata Direktur Inventarisasi dan Pemantauan Sumber Daya Hutan Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan, R.A Belinda Arunarwati Margono, Kamis (16/7).

Menurutnya, sektor kehutanan saat ini justru banyak diwarnai kepemimpinan perempuan. .Dia mencontohkan Menteri LHK saat ini adalah seorang perempuan, dan jajaran eselon-nya banyak diisi perempuan.

"Mereka berperan sentral dalam proses pengambilan keputusan, negosiasi internasional, kegiatan teknis kehutanan, dan ujung tombak pengelolaan di tingkat tapak," katanya dalam webinar 'Peran Perempuan Dalam Pengelolaan Hutan Lestari di Tengah Pandemi Covid-19' yang digelar Srikandi Hutan Lestari.

Ketua Umum Srikandi Hutan Lestari (SHL), Jana Sjamsiah mengatakan, pada September 2015 negara-negara di dunia menyepakati Sustainable Development Goals atau SDGs yang meliputi 17 tujuan pembangunan. Salah satunya adalah tujuan ke-5 yaitu kesetaraan gender.

Pihaknya menegaskan aktif memperjuangkan kesetaraan gender di sektor kehutanan, industri pengolahan hasil hutan, masyarakat sekitar hutan dan konsumen hasil hutan. Karenanya, dia berharap semua pihak sadar bahwa perempuan berperan sentral dalam upaya pelestarian hutan.

"Mulai dari pengambilan kebijakan, sertifikasi produk hutan lestari hingga advokasi konsumen," katanya.

Terpisah, Ketua Umum Indonesian Forestry Certification Cooperation (IFCC), Dradjad Wibowo mengatakan, banyak pemimpin perempuan yang memiliki peran penting dan berhasil dalam urusan kelestarian hutan dan kesehatan seperti saat pandemi COVID-19 kini.

Karena itu, dia mendorong perempuan memimpin kampanye konsumsi terhadap produk hutan lestari.

"Saat ini sudah banyak kertas dan tisu yang bersertifikat lestari kelas dunia dari IFCC/PEFC. Produk itu seperti tisu wajah, tisu bayi hingga tisu toilet," katanya. (mdk/dan)

TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA - Srikandi Hutan Lestari (SHL) mengadakan Webinar bertajuk 'Peran Perempuan dalam Pengelolaan Hutan Lestari di Tengah Pandemi Covid-19', Kamis (16/7/2020).

Ketua Umum SHL Jana Sjamsiah mengatakan, webinar ini bertujuan menyadarkan semua pihak bahwa perempuan Berperan sentral dalam pelaksanaan hutan lestari, mulai dari pengambilan kebijakan, sertifikasi produk hutan lestari hingga advokasi konsumen.

Satu di antara pembicara yang memaparkan materinya dalam webinar itu adalah Direktur Inventarisasi dan Pemantauan Sumber Daya Hutan DIrektorat Jenderal Planologi Kehutanan dan tata Lingkungan, RA Belinda Arunarwati Margono PhD.

Dia menjelaskan, saat ini peran perempuan di kehutanan masih menghadapi banyak kendala karena kehutanan dipandang sebagai dunia laki-laki yang membutuhkan kekuatan fisik.

Selain itu pengakuan atas atas kontribusi nyata perempuan dalam aspek ekonomi dan ekologi masih kurang. Karena itu, paradigma di masyarakat masih mengarah pada pemberdayaan perempuan.

"Padahal sektor kehutanan saat ini justru banyak diwarnai kepemimpinan perempuan. Menteri LHK adalah seorang pemimpin perempuan, dan jajaran eselon-nya banyak diisi perempuan. Mereka berperan sentral dalam proses pengambilan keputusan, negosiasi internasional, kegiatan tehnis kehutanan, dan ujung tombak pengelolaan di tingkat tapak," katanya.

Pembicara lain, sekretaris Umum Indonesian Forestry Certification Cooperation (IFCC) Saniah Widuri menyatakan, sebagai pengembang standar sertifikasi hutan, IFCC sangat memperhatikan Peran Sentral perempuan.

"Ini tidak hanya dalam pengambilan kebijakan di dalam perusahaan, tapi juga melihat apa yang dilakukan perusahaan kepada kaum perempuan di sekitar hutan konsesi," katanya.

Saniah menekankan, tagline IFCC “Doing good doing no harm is no longer Good enough”.

"Kata “Good” antara lain berarti perempuan harus berperan signifikan dalam mewujudkan hutan lestari. Di level konsumen, peran perempuan dalam mengatur konsumsi keluarga yang sangat vital dan menjadi penentu, dengan memilih hanya produk yang memiliki label lestari," kata dia.

Saniah menambahkan, saat ini sudah ada 73 perusahaan dengan luas 4 juta hektar yang bersertifikat IFCC/PEFC. Ini ditambah 38 industri hasil hutan.

Adapun Deputy Director Sustainability & Stakeholder Engagement, APP-Sinarmas, Librian Angraeni, mengatakan, semua perusahaan HTI dan pabrik pengolahan dalam grup APP-Sinar Mas sudah mendapatkan sertifikat lestari dari IFCC/PEFC.

Sertifikat ini adalah sertifikat berkelas dunia. APP berkomitmen terus melakukan pengelolaan hutan lestari. Berdasarkan pengalaman APP, perempuan berperan sentral dalam pengembangan masyarakat yang tinggal di dalam dan di sekitar konsesi hutan. Ini merupakan elemen penting dalam upaya konservasi hutan alam, dimana kunci utamanya adalah menyelaraskan antara peningkatan perekonomian dengan menjaga kelestarian hutan. APP bekerjasama dengan berbagai mitra untuk melakuan pemberdayaan perempuan di sekitar hutan dan pabrik APP.

Menurut Librarian, produk-produk yang dihasilkan perempuan mitra APP terbukti laku terjual di pasar lokal dan nasional, dan berkontribusi cukup signifikan dalam melewati masa pandemi ini. (Yat/TribunNetwork)

Agar Program Hutan Lestari Berhasil, Peran Sentral Perempuan Harus Makin Didorong

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com - Kalangan perempuan diharapkan terus meningkatkan peran dalam mendorong upaya melestarikan hutan. Upaya itu tidak hanya di lapangan, tetapi juga pada pengambilan keputusan, dan mendorong konsumsi produk hasil hutan yang telah tersertifikasi.

Hal itu mengerucut dalam web seminar (webinar) dengan tema 'Peran Perempuan Dalam Pengelolaan Hutan Lestari di Tengah Pandemi Covid-19' yang diselenggarakan Srikandi Hutan Lestari (SHL), Kamis (16/7/2020).

Direktur Inventarisasi dan Pemantauan Sumber Daya Hutan Kementerian LHK Belinda A Margono mengatakan, perempuan punya aspek sangat strategis. Namun, selama ini pengurusan hutan terutama aktivitas fisik dan lapangan terlanjur dianggap sebagai dunia para pria.

 

“Ada pembagian kerja berbasis gender yang menempatkan perempuan di posisi lebih rendah,” ujar Belinda.

Belinda membanggakan kementerian yang menaunginya. Saat ini Kementerian LHK dipimpin oleh perempuan, yakni Siti Nurbaya. Selain itu, dari 13 eselon I di Kementerian LHK paling tidak 30 persen ditempati perempuan.

Ketua Umum SHL Jana Sjamsiah mengatakan, pada September 2015 negara-negara di dunia menyepakati sustainable development goals yang meliputi 17 tujuan pembangunan, salah satunya adalah kesetaraan gender. SHL aktif memperjuangkan kesetaraan gender di sektor kehutanan, industri pengolahan hasil hutan, masyarakat sekitar hutan, dan konsumen hasil hutan.

"Kami ingin mendorong bahwa perempuan berperan dalam pelaksanaan hutan lestari, mulai dari pengambilan kebijakan, sertifikasi produk hutan lestari hingga advokasi konsumen," katanya.

Sekretaris Umum Indonesian Forestry Certification Cooperation (IFCC) Saniah Widuri menyatakan, sebagai pengembang standar sertifikasi hutan, IFCC sangat memperhatikan peran sentral perempuan. Ini tidak hanya dalam pengambilan kebijakan di dalam perusahaan, tapi juga melihat apa yang dilakukan perusahaan kepada kaum perempuan di sekitar hutan konsesi.

Dia mengungkapkan arti penting sertifikasi IFCC dengan melihat bencana di Luwu Utara, Sulawesi Selatan, yang diduga terjadi akibat pembalakan liar. Seandainya pengelola hutan di sana bersedia mengikuti sertifikasi, maka bencana alam bisa dihindari.

"Memang di Luwu utara itu belum ada yang ikut sertifikasi kami. Bayangkan seandainya semua hutan di Indonesia mendapatkan sertifikasi voluntary dari IFCC, dapat dibayangkan pengelolaannya pasti sudah baik atau mengikuti kaidah kehutanan, sosial, ekologi, dan ekonomi," ujar Saniah.

Librian Angraeni, Deputy Director Sustainability & Stakeholder Engagement APP-Sinarmas, mengatakan semua perusahaan HTI dan pabrik pengolahan dalam usahanya sudah mendapatkan sertifikat lestari dari IFCC/PEFC. Berdasarkan pengalaman APP, perempuan berperan sentral dalam pengembangan masyarakat yang tinggal di dalam dan di sekitar konsesi hutan.

"Ini merupakan elemen penting dalam upaya konservasi hutan alam, di mana kunci utamanya adalah menyelaraskan antara peningkatan perekonomian dengan menjaga kelestarian hutan. APP bekerja sama dengan berbagai mitra untuk melakukan pemberdayaan perempuan di sekitar hutan dan pabrik APP," ulas Librian.

Secara terpisah, Ketua Umum IFCC Dradjad Wibowo yang juga ekonom senior mengatakan, banyak pemimpin perempuan yang berperan sentral dan berhasil dalam urusan kelestarian dan kesehatan seperti pandemi Covid-19. Pihaknya memantau perempuan pemimpin perusahaan HTI berhasil mengelola hutan secara lestari sesuai standar dunia. Ekspor pulp dan paper pun meningkat karenanya.

Menurutnya, Menteri LHK Siti Nurbaya dan jajarannya juga berhasil menerapkan pengelolaan hutan lestari. Karena itu, Dradjad mendorong wanita memimpin kampanye konsumsi terhadap produk hutan lestari. Karena, pertumbuhan ekonomi Indonesia sangat tergantung pada konsumsi rumah tangga yang berkontribusi 55-60% PDB.

"Saat ini sudah banyak kertas dan tisu yang bersertifikat lestari kelas dunia dari IFCC/PEFC. Produk itu seperti tisu wajah, tisu basah hingga tisu toilet," kata Dradjad.

Buy Products from the Forest
PEFC has a distinct message for the consumer this month. On the occasion of the end of PEFC's 20th anniversary year, CEO Ben Gunneberg says we must "choose forest-based materials instead of alternatives such as plastic. If we don’t use our forests, the land will be used for other purposes, such as cattle ranches or soy plantations. Buying forest products, such as wood and paper, gives the forest value, it creates demand, and provides a financial incentive to keep a forest a forest." Sustainable Management for Vietnam's Rubber Plantations
The Vietnam Administration of Forestry (VNFOREST) has awarded the first Vietnam Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) certificates, covering more than 11,400 ha of plantations, belonging to three Vietnam Rubber Group (VRG) companies. VRG members own about 300,000 ha rubber plantation in Vietnam. Tran Ngoc Thuan, VRG’s Chairman said he aims to get SFM certificates for over 50,000 ha of rubber plantations in 2020, along with PEFC Chain of Custody (CoC) certificates for 21 factories.Read more.
 
 
Indonesia's Forest Certification System Gets Top Score
SLVK, KAN, IAF, TPAC, IFCC and PEFC. Lots of acronyms at work for Indonesia. A clear sign that sustainable forestry management is being taken seriously. SVLK (Sistem Verificasi Legalitas Kayu) is Indonesia’s national timber assurance process, a mandatory, legality and sustainability certification system built on a national multi-stakeholder consensus. KAN (Komite Akreditasi Nasional) is the National Accreditation Body of Indonesia and is, in turn, a member of the IAF, the International Accreditation Forum. Additional support for forest management in the region is coming from the Dutch Timber Procurement Assessment Committee (TPAC). While its main job is to make sure Netherlands keeps its commitment to 100% sustainable timber, it has also given Indonesia’s forest certification system a top score, thanks to the work of IFCC, the national governing body for PEFC. Read how PEFC manages these standards.

PEFC 20th anniversary: a year of celebrations

This time last year, PEFC celebrated its 20th anniversary. 30 June 2019 was the starting point for a year of special anniversary articles and videos about the history, development and future of our organization. One year later, as we turn 21, let’s look back over the last 12 months of celebrations!

On 30 June 1999, European small-forest owners came together to create an international forest certification system that had their needs at heart, and PEFC was born.

We began our celebrations by looking back at those very early days of our organization. We dug out some old photographs and highlighted the key milestones that have helped shape PEFC into what it is today – the world’s largest forest certification system.

Smallholders have always been at the heart of our work, and we have ensured that small- and family forest owners can benefit from certification. We developed group certification to make PEFC certification affordable and practical for smallholders. Throughout our 20 years, we have continued to innovate as we make sure that PEFC certification works for everybody.

In our year of celebrations we’ve also heard from small-forest owners themselves: Swedish forest owner Sven Erik Hammar spoke about smallholders and PEFC, while Riikka Joukio, a family forest owner and PEFC International Board member, looked back at 20 years of forest certification, and into a sustainable future.

How PEFC works

We know that it can be difficult to understand how PEFC exactly works. Our anniversary year gave us the perfect opportunity to explain: from how we are governed to who is responsible for developing our standards and how we ensure governance and standards development are kept separate and impartial.

Our members have also been involved. Andre Laroze from Certfor/PEFC Chile told us about the revision process of the Chilean Forest Management Standard, and MTCC, our national member for Malaysia, walked us through the development and revision of their national standard.

But it’s not just technical issues. We’ve seen how we use online communication campaigns to reach out to consumers with our message about the importance of forests, certification and sustainable forest management. 

We also carry out outreach to sectors that rely on forest-based products, promoting the importance of them procuring and working with certified timber - from construction and paper, to packaging, biomass, bamboo, rubber and furniture, even the fashion industry.

A celebratory PEFC Forest Certification Week

Once a year, the entire PEFC alliance gathers together for PEFC Week. In 2019, as we celebrated our anniversary, we went back to a significant place of our history: Würzburg, Germany, where one of our first meetings took place. 

The Würzburg meeting from 1999 proved to be a turning point in our history. 

It was the moment when everyone involved committed to the creation of PEFC: there was no turning back! 

20 years later, we were back to celebrate the achievements from 20 years of caring for forests globally and locally, welcoming 150 representatives from PEFC members from around the world, for the biggest PEFC Week ever.
