Born in Gombong, Kebumen, Central Java Province on March 18 th , 1968, Daru lives in a cool countryside in Ciapus, Bogor, West Java Province with 4 children. After graduated from high school, in 1987 he studied forestry at Faculty of Forestry, Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta. In 2007, he completed his postgraduate study at the Master of Agribusiness Management at Bogor Agricultural University. Since 1993 he has been actively worked in the domain of forestry which consists of mapping and social studies consultancy, social studies, forest certification, certification of wood products using international standard, assessor training, and quality management systems (ISO 9000) and environmental management systems (ISO 14000). In 1998, he joined the Ecolabel Institute Indonesia (LEI). While working at LEI, he handled the training for field assessor and expert panels, managed LEI certification and accreditation, and was the Acting Executive Director of LEI in 2009. During his work at LEI, Daru conducted many LEI certification system development activities and LEI assessor trainings, monitoring and evaluation of certification, fostering the timber industry and forest entrepreneurs, and participating in various national and international forums, both as active participant and speaker. Not only LEI, Daru has broaden his knowledge on certification by studying FSC certification system. He participated the training of FSC assessors in Oregon US, became the assessor to evaluate the Global Forest Trade and Network (GFTN) that was developed by WWF as a step-wise approach to achieve FSC Certification. In 2010, Daru developed a forestry consultant business, namely “IDEAS Consultant” which as of today IDEAS Consultant has carried out various activities related to High Conservation Value Forest (HCVF) assessment, research, feasibility studies, forestry socio-economic studies, ecological and environmental surveys, certification assistance (covers several schemes: LEI, FSC, PEFC), renewable new energy (EBT) development including the building a biomass-based Power Plant. With around 90 clients, the business coverage of IDEAS consulting companies have reached almost all over Indonesia and have collaborated with various international organizations, such as The Borneo Initiative (TBI), ITTO, MCA Indonesia, TNC, TFF, AFD, EDF, ICCTF, and WWF Indonesia. Daru has also been actively involved in the Indonesian Forestry Certification Cooperation (IFCC) since the beginning of IFCC in Indonesia. Starting from the establishment of IFCC, and development of IFCC system, Daru has become the member of IFCC, Secretary of the Standardization Committee, and one of the Board of Directors until now.
